Babcia

The strength of mothers, the healing of time

Synopsis

BABCIA follows the raw and personal journey of Krysia, an 80-year-old woman born in a Nazi prison during World War II. Accompanied by her daughter Małgosia and granddaughter Anastazja, she moves through a mosaic of memories and places connected to her mother’s struggle for survival — from Gestapo imprisonment and the Warsaw Uprising to the family’s present-day life between Poland and Germany. The film uncovers a buried legacy of courage, love and sacrifice while three generations confront the trauma that has shaped their identities and search for a way to preserve the family story without remaining trapped by it.
